IxNetwork validates routing protocols; BreakingPoint tests security equipment under realistic attack loads. IxNetwork: network testing and protocol validation
IxNetwork simulates network devices that establish BGP, OSPF, ISIS and MPLS sessions and generates verifiable data-plane traffic. A DUT (Device Under Test) is exposed to a controlled network environment that mimics production conditions.
IxNetwork also supports YANG-based management protocols such as NETCONF and gNMI. This makes it possible to test modern network software that is configured via automation rather than via a traditional CLI.
BreakingPoint: testing security equipment
BreakingPoint simulates realistic application traffic and known attack patterns for testing firewalls, IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) systems and DDoS mitigation equipment. The platform combines stateful application traffic with attack simulations in a single test stream.
Organisations use BreakingPoint to carry out acceptance testing of security hardware and to validate configuration changes in production-equivalent environments.
