Fibre access: OLT systems for GPON and XGS-PON
An OLT (Optical Line Terminal) is the active network element that manages the PON connections to subscribers. The capacity, in terms of the number of PON ports, determines how many customers can be served from a single location. Raisecom supplies the ISCOM product family in form factors suitable for both central offices and distributed deployment sites.
GPON offers 2.5 Gbit/s downstream per port; XGS-PON (10 Gigabit Symmetric PON) delivers 10 Gbit/s symmetrically. Raisecom supplies hardware for both generations. Migration from GPON to XGS-PON only affects the active equipment; the passive ODN (Optical Distribution Network) remains unchanged.
Carrier Ethernet and metro aggregation
Raisecom supplies Metro Ethernet switches that comply with MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) standards for carrier-grade Ethernet services. MEF certification guarantees interoperability with other MEF-compliant equipment and is relevant for operators offering Ethernet services with defined SLA parameters to business customers.
When is Raisecom a good fit?
Raisecom is relevant to telecoms operators rolling out or expanding fibre access networks, and to service providers offering carrier Ethernet services. The ISCOM OLTs are also suitable for use in industrial networks where reliability
is essential under extreme conditions.
