Riorey supplies specialised hardware for detecting and mitigating DDoS attacks. The devices operate inline within the network path and analyse all passing traffic using behavioural analysis, without relying on attack signatures. Distri X distributes Riorey products and provides support with sizing.
Inline DDoS mitigation: no redirection required
DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) is a type of attack in which a target is flooded with network traffic to render it inaccessible. Riorey devices are deployed in-line and filter out attack traffic from the flow without redirecting the traffic to an external scrubbing centre.
That is what sets it apart from cloud-based scrubbing services: these introduce latency via DNS or BGP rerouting and require active mitigation to be enabled. Riorey filters continuously and instantly, without any extra step.
Behavioural analysis as a detection method
Riorey uses behavioural analysis as its primary method, rather than attack signatures. The system builds a statistical baseline profile for each IP address, protocol and port.
Traffic that deviates significantly from that profile is flagged as potential attack traffic and filtered out.
This makes it effective against attacks that have not yet been documented as signatures, such as zero-day attacks or variants of known attack methods.
When is Riorey a good fit?
Riorey is suitable for ISPs wishing to protect multiple customers via a single device at aggregation points, and for enterprises and hosting providers seeking to protect critical infrastructure against volumetric attacks. The inline approach
is suitable for environments where additional latency is unacceptable.
