UFiSpace supplies white-box switches and router platforms with carrier-grade specifications for service provider networks. The hardware is compatible with IP Infusion’s OcNOS, RTBrick and SONiC. Carrier-grade white-box: hardware separate from software
UFiSpace is a Taiwanese manufacturer of white-box hardware for telecoms and carrier applications. Carrier-grade hardware differs from generic data centre white-box hardware in that it features redundant power supplies, hot-swap cooling and hardware functions specific to service provider environments.
The S9280-32D is a 400G switch based on Broadcom Jericho2 silicon, designed for metro aggregation and data centre interconnect. The S9600 series offers 800G capacity. The S7701 series comprises router platforms for carrier routing functions, with support for large routing tables.
NOS compatibility: OcNOS, RTBrick and SONiC
UFiSpace hardware is supplied with ONIE and without any proprietary network software. Validated NOS options include OcNOS from IP Infusion (carrier-grade routing with EVPN-MPLS), RTBrick FullStack BNG (cloud-native BNG on Jericho hardware) and SONiC (open-source data centre switching).
The choice of NOS determines the feature set: OcNOS for carrier routing and MPLS, RTBrick for BNG functions on PON networks, and SONiC for data centre fabrics. Distri X advises on this choice based on your use case.
When is UFiSpace a good fit?
UFiSpace is relevant for telecoms operators and ISPs that are building open networking architectures for metro aggregation, BNG or data centre interconnect, and that want carrier-grade hardware for this purpose, with the freedom to choose the network operating system and hardware separately.
